With more sources of information to choose from than ever before—newspapers, radio stations, magazines, blogs, social networks, television programs, the works—we wondered what sources people look to, who they trust to provide them with information. We asked some of our favorite media friends where they like to go to stay informed. Where do you go for your news?

Favorite Radio Station/Program: This American Life

Melissa Febos, author of Whip Smart
Local (New York, NY): New York Times online, New Yorker’s "Talk of the Town" column, NPR
International: NPR (including podcasts!), BBC online, New York Times, and I love Rachel Maddow.
Feminist: I grew up on Ms. Magazine and have come to appreciate Bitch Magazine. Sometimes I like BUST Magazine, though it can be a little grating in a cutesy, hipster way. I definitely appreciate feminist news that has both a sense of humor and gravity, [like] Feministing.
Guilty Pleasure: Twitter and Facebook updates! The Daily Show (should I feel guilty about this? I don't know; it's FUNNY), literary blogs, ELLE Magazine (in my defense—their book reviews aren't bad, and the occasional Ariel Levy piece kicks ass! But also, there's the faaaashion…).
Favorite Newspaper: I suppose the New York Times, but I don't think my ideal newspaper exists yet.
Favorite Magazine: I guess I have to say the New Yorker, as that's the one I read most frequently, even though I often count the number of women contributors per issue and become infuriated at how few there are. I have also always loved the Sun, Ms. Magazine, Poets & Writers Magazine, Harper's Magazine (sometimes), and some very guilty pleasures that I am too ashamed to name publicly. Oh, and does anyone remember Sassy Magazine? I adored Sassy.
Favorite News Station: PBS, BBC, MSNBC (though I hate it, too).
Favorite Radio Station/Program: NPR!! All Things Considered , Fresh Air, Radiolab, This American Life

Melissa Silverstein
, blogger, Women & Hollywood

Guilty Pleasure: TV and more TV

Favorite Magazine: Entertainment Weekly
Favorite News Station: WNYC
Favorite Radio Station/Program: The Brian Lehrer Show

Joie Jager-Hyman, author of Fat Envelope Frenzy
Local (Brooklyn, NY): New York Times, Village Voice
International: NPR, New York Times
Feminist: Feministing, Crucial Minutiae, Girl With Pen (all blogs)
Guilty Pleasure: Perez Hilton
Favorite Newspaper: New York Times, Village Voice

Favorite News Station: I used to watch CNN when I had cable—I liked Anderson Cooper, the silver fox.
Favorite Radio Station/Program: NPR/The Brian Lehrer Show

Phoebe Damrosch, author of Service Included: Four-Star Secrets of an Eavesdropping Waiter
Local (Brooklyn, NY): I live in Brooklyn and listen to WNYC all day long, paying special attention to The Brian Lehrer Show for local news.
International: BBC/NPR`
Feminist: I used to get Ms. Magazine, [and] occasionally flip through BUST Magazine, follow human rights on Huffington Post—and now I have Sadie Magazine!
Guilty Pleasure: Babble.com
Favorite Newspaper: New York Times
Favorite Magazine: Food & Wine Magazine
Favorite News Station: I don't have a television.
Favorite Radio Station/Program: WNYC; my favorite show is Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me!

Alex Morris, Contributing Editor at New York Magazine
Local (New York, NY): New York Times
International: New York Times, occasionally Le Monde
Feminist: Mostly through books, to be honest
Guilty Pleasure: Jon Stewart

Kerry Cohen
, author of Loose Girl
Local (Portland, OR): My husband
International: My husband, Facebook, and NPR
Feminist: Feministing and BUST Magazine
Guilty Pleasure: Facebook and the rags in the checkout line at the grocery store
Favorite newspaper: New York Times
Favorite magazine: New York Times Magazine (I'm steadfast)
Favorite News Station: NPR
Favorite radio program: This American Life

Local (Portland, OR): Usually the Portland Mercury blog and OPB, Oregon's NPR affiliate. The Mercury [is] sort of snide and not always objective, but I feel like between the writers and the commenters, I can get a general sense of what is actually happening. OPB is the basic morning news stuff mixed in with the national show, Morning Edition.
International: OPB and the New York Times. I listen to OPB as I get ready in the mornings, and if there's anything I feel like I want more info on I will go more in depth generally on the Times site.
Feminist: I really love Bitch Magazine. They are smart and funny, and it's not all about crafts—which really, really bugs me, honestly, about other feminist mags.
Guilty Pleasure: Huffington Post and Perez Hilton—trashy style blogs. I have actually found a lot of music news on Perez first. That's where I learned iTunes was going to move to variable pricing.
Favorite Newspaper: New York Times—pretty much still the gold standard.
Favorite Magazine: New Yorker—it's the only magazine I have paid for a subscription to.
Favorite News Station: OPB—they are pretty fantastic; you get NPR, BBC, local shows, and PRI.
Favorite Radio Station/Program: OPB/Morning Edition
